Travel Insurance with Lower Excess

How do I find holiday insurance with low excess?

Throughout the world of insurance excess is a term that can send shivers down the spine of insurance holders. Excess is very much associated all types of insurance. One in particular that can be very high is when you go to hire a car. Unfortunately travel insurance is not much difference and you are almost inevitably going to be faced with excess if you end up having to make a claim.

low excess travel insurance

What exactly is travel insurance excess ?

Excess is the amount you have to pay when making a successful claim for travel insurance. This could be anything from zero (£0) to sometimes thousands of pounds.

So if you have to claim for stolen baggage and the claim amount is £1300 with an excess of £500 then you would recieve £800 back from your travel insurer. Obviously if you had a zero excess policy then you would get back the full amount of the claim e.g. £1300. It is worth bearing in mind that in order to reduce your excess your premium is likely to be higher. It's really down to you to decide how much you want to pay out initially for your insurance balanced with how much you'd be prepared to pay as excess.

Quite a few travel insurers (just like in car insurance) allow you to reduce or increase youe excess.

Listed below are a selection of excess travel insurance options...
